This month saw Samsung publish their figures for the amount of pre-orders that have been received for the handset during recent months; the results of the report are looking extremely promising for the smartphone manufacturer, to say the least.

The handset sits at the cutting-edge of what is currently available in the way of smartphone technology; this helps to account for the impressively quick pre-order figures that Samsung have reported – over 10,000 pre-orders were placed within the first 29 minutes of the new handset appearing on the Korean telecom website. While the country’s largest carrier, SK Telecom, receive a staggering 160,000 pre-orders via their website.

Samsung say that they are very proud of their latest device and predict worldwide sales to reflect the product’s quality; they are targeting to make no less than 10 million unit sales during 2011 alone – if reached, this would equal the sales results for the company’s Galaxy S II predecessor, the I9000 Galaxy S, made during its debut year of retail.

The device features a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus screen, and has internal speculations that are among some of the most weighty that can be currently found on the smartphone market; the handset is due to be released in Europe later on in the year, with prices expected to sit somewhere slightly lower than those of its nearest competitors, such as the Apple iPhone and Blackberry Torch.
