The feud between Mac’s and PCs has been ongoing for years, and many people are completely devoted to either one or the other. Many people grew up with PCs and feel comfortable only with PCs. Artists of all kinds favor Macs for many reasons, especially with the growing popularity of Apple products (like the iPad, iPod, iPhone, etc.). There are even commercials with “Mac” and “PC” talking about how they are better than their counterpart. So which one is better?
First of all, you have to look at the basic software that comes with both computers. They both have a media player, a web browser (Mac has Safari, Windows has Internet Explorer), a computer backup system (Windows has Backup and Restore Center while Mac as Time Machine), a photo viewer (Photo Gallery in Windows, iPhoto in a Mac). So they essentially can perform many of the same functions.
Popular Mechanics ran a test between a PC and Mac, both similar in their tech specs, however the PC did offer more RAM than the Mac (due to the operating system being more of a memory hog). They rated relatively the same in design, setup, ease of software usage, program operation, and in the media player. The Mac did have faster run times, shut down and start up times, and many users found it to be easier to operate. However the PC provided a better photo management software and word processing software.
Overall, it truly is in the hands of the user to decide which computer is better, PC or Mac. It comes down to use preference and what they feel comfortable using or adapting to.
